Trained: Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art, Oxford.
1976 - 1978
Lived in Greece and established an etching workshop on the island of Syros, affiliated to The Aegean School of Art.
1980
Opened Moorland House Workshop in Somerset, running residential painting and printmaking courses until 1986.
1981
Travelled to Italy on a Bockingford International Watercolour Award.
1986
First of ten solo exhibitions at the Chris Beetles Gallery, London.
1987
Commissioned to paint in Northern Portugal. Commissioned to paint in Guernsey for the Guernsey Tourist Board.
1988
Wrote and illustrated Light, How to See it, How to Paint it published by Cassells.
1990
Tutored painting group in North Yemen for The Artist magazine.
1991
Tutored painting group in Southern India for The Artist magazine.
Became artist in residence at Shepton Mallet Prison, Somerset (until 1993).
1992
Won the BP Portrait Award at the National Portrait Gallery for the portrait of prison inmates entitled Her Majesty's Pleasure.
Ran painting workshops in Dubai and travelled to Oman to paint.
Became visiting artist an the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.
1993
Elected a member of the Royal West of England Academy.
Commissioned to paint Lord and Lady Longford for the National Portrait Gallery.
Illustrated Excursions in the Real World by William Trevor.
Tutored painting group in the South of France for The Artist magazine.
Organised the first regional Koestler Exhibition of Prison Art in Taunton.
1995
Tutored painting group in Zanzibar for The Artist magazine.
1996
Tutored painting group in Egypt for The Artist magazine.
Exeter Health Care Arts commissioned an oil painting for the RD&E hospital.
Travelled to Hungary to paint.
Tutored painting group in France for the Friends of the RWA.
1997
Wrote and illustrated Light in Watercolour published by HarperCollins.
Became visiting tutor at Somerset College of Arts and Technology.
Tutored painting group at the Alhambra in Spain for The Artist magazine.
1998
Travelled to Senegal, West Africa to paint.
1999
Tutored painting group in Gujarat, Western India for The Artist magazine.
2000
Travelled to India to paint people and places threatened by the damming of the Narmada River.
'Year of the Artist' Commission to work with inmates at H M Portland Young Offender Institution on murals within the prison.
Tutored painting group in Morroco for The Artist magazine.
2001
Organised a fund raising exhibition "Bhuj before the Earthquake" at the Curwen Gallery, London.
